@ella1838 Also, in Woolworths, none of the meat is locally processed. It is all butchered and packed in a couple of centralised processing facilities and trucked around the country. The only skills the guys in the supermarket meat department need is putting stock on shelves and monitoring temperatures. So the concept of fresh in the morning, not so good by evening doesn't exist there. Markdowns will happen about 2 days from the Use by date, and I would suspect they happen during the morning restock.

@ella1838 Possibly that or maybe over there they only have coolers and not refrigeration out in the stores so anything left they need to put back in the actual fridges out back?

@ella1838 Nope.

Most places repack the meat once then turn it into mince if it doesn’t sell.

If your supermarket packs in store check the time on the label, early in the day (typically between 6 and 7am) it’s usually already been on the shelf for 4 days.

@nguyenanh126 Oh we know all to well they do it but trust me mate refuse to do it. It's not legal and can land you in huge trouble if caught. Fine and imprisonment. Most of the time they don't have proper stockloss procedures and mince over produced meat. Sometimes there can be random tests to meat to see old meat is being minced. We had one a couple years back.
