Can H+R block’s tax return calculator be trusted?

They seem to think that based off 60k income with 10.8k tax paid, I’d be getting 1.2k back. Seems a little generous.

Is this a scummy tactic to get me to use their service?

@ponispop They either think you can get $4k of deductions or they haven’t bothered to update the calculator for the removal of LMITO.

@ponispop You can use https://paycalculator.com.au/ to check the amount before deductions.

Seems like a scummy tactic for 90% of people. But any deductions would be provided by you so it depends on your circumstances.

@ponispop Tax + Medicare Levy on $60k salary with no other deductions or offsets = $11,167.

You will have to pay $367 to ATO - no refund.

@ericakuhl89 My guess is they forgot LMITO is ending. Seems to match the $1500 difference.
