I've been considering installing a solar panel system on my property in an effort to reduce my electricity costs; which is roughly 3k per month right now with 341 units.
Below is the slab from MAHADISCOM
|----------------------------------------------|
| Units | Rate (Rs per unit) |
|------------------|---------------------------|
| 0 - 100 | 4.41 |
| 101 - 300 | 9.64 |
| 301 - 500 | 13.61 |
---------------------------------------------------
So as per this, the lower slab I am in the lower my bill will be.
I have been recommended to install a 3kW solar system which costs around 1,81,526.
The payback period for this system will be roughly 5.5 yrs ( 1.8lc /(12 month*3k bill)
I have been thinking of installing a system of only 1KW since I will be maximizing my price to savings.
+------+---------+---------+---------+
| Unit | Bill | 1kW | 3kW |
+------+---------+---------+---------+
| 341 | ₹ 2,927 | ₹ 1,318 | ₹ 0 |
+------+---------+---------+---------+
So payback for 1kW system will be 4.8 yrs.
My question is I am right in these assumptions and calculations, or am I missing something with net metering with solar?
Is this an effective way to reduce the payback period? Since I won't be living in my current house for more than 8 years from now
