T-Mobile is giving out free wifi hotspots for grades K- 12 students who don't have internet access.

The hotspots give 100gb of data for one year, so it's really intended for just doing homework and not much beyond that. There are some eligibility requirements, check if you qualify here:

@august10181 There's also PcsforPeople. They offer a hotspot on the T-Mobile network for low income people. No data caps and if you qualify for ACP it's at no cost to the user.

With the current Affordable Connectivity Program, low-income people can get $30 off internet costs, and many providers have low-cost plans. Perhaps our society is waking up to the fact that internet is a public resource.
