PC points, gas discount

I just filled up my car at an Esso station. Price at pump said 142.9 c/L. I redeemed some PC points to get a supposed 10c/L off. Pump shows I put in 53.578L for $72.56, or 135.4 c/L, saving me about 7.5c/L, not 10.

Am I missing something? Or do they just lie? I wanted to print a receipt but it just didn't, think the machine was out of paper.

Also, I haven't bothered doing the calculations as to what is the most cost efficient use of PC points, if there's a quick rule of thumb for this, I would be happy to know.

@jlbrennan20 Bonus point redemption event at Shoppers is the most efficient way. That gas deal is basically a 1:1 redemption ratio so not really worth it.

@jlbrennan20 Save your points and use them at Shoppers when Mega Redemption Event occurs, it's on right now, 200,000 points equals to $300...I always redeem for electronics, cell phone and Tablet... can't beat it

@georgiaboy2995 Yeah. My wife organized so that somehow during one of these events we got $400 off a Nintendo switch and the cost of the switch was like $28
