New Employer is Paying Me Using Another Company’s Name – Should I Be Concerned?

About to join this IT startup, great pay but they are planning to pay me using a company name that isn’t related to the startup that I’m employed to.

Im curious whether there will be any legal or tax implications?
Will be asking the employer the same question later, just want to have some opinions and experiences from fellow malaysians

It looks shady but Im giving it the benefit of the doubt now

@ericc I'm being paid through an outsourced HR but yhr payslip will still mention the actual company name.

@gffg2019 If it’s issued in the name of the tech startup and not the company you are paid from, it’s either they are using a third party payroll vendor or it’s shady.

Google the name of the company that you receive pay from.

@crusader1 Can easily check if the company is registered or not, just do a quick google search of the company.

@gffg2019 they are outsourced HR, and you are probably hired on yearly contract basis, just say u work for the company but paymaster under the HR outsource company, you fill out form for banks fill HR company name for simplicity sake

@gffg2019 It could also be due to company structure, where certain teams are actually spin offs.

@gffg2019 Hard to tell. Sometimes group treasury pays salary for its subsidiaries.

@gffg2019 Outsourced payroll most likely. My previous company was also like that, had to explain to the sales advisor when I bought my car lol.
