@maxamir Another comment from me - NOT financial.
I moved to the rural place outside of Zurich three years ago, have one child with my husband. Personally, I 90% love it, and we still go into Zurich lots (theatre, opera, gigs, friends) because it is well connected on public transport. It's 45 mins for me, and the bus is on my doorstep nearly.
If it was not well connected, I think I would not be so happy.
The village we are in is lovely and everyone is super friendly. It has a low tax rate (on a par with Kilchberg, ZH, but not Zug), lots of building work and investment is going on with both public and private properties nearby (the low tax rate and good transport links is attracting a Zurich exodus). There are some decent restaurants close by. We are 25 mins by car from ZRH airport (I fly once a month or so for work).
I think I would be unhappy in another village, one more rural, or without good infrastructure. Therefore, if you do move out - pick your place carefully!
