Most of my portfolio is in Vanguard funds, BND, BNDX, VTI, VXUS. I have a few other stocks, some of which pay dividends. I am losing 30% of dividends to withholding tax.

How can I avoid this excessive taxation?

@anonymous What country are you a tax resident of? If you can avail of a double taxation treaty, you can file form W-8BEN with your brokerage to apply the lower treaty rate (usually 15% for dividends).
