Why does the Indian government not provide stimulus checks like the US?

We recently found that RBI has decided to print a hell lot of money, in terms of rupees 'x' lakh crores. However, is there any way the government pays normal tax payers like you and me directly in our bank accounts like the U.S government does? Isn't it time that all we taxpayers directly benefit from the government's effort to save the economy?

I mean, any economy needs people to spend to survive. What better way to increase the spending power of people than directly depositing it in their bank accounts. Other initiatives like allocating money for infrastructure, health etc. sounds good only on paper and it's not possible for ordinary people like us to follow through if money was well spent or not.

@sunsh2ne What better way to increase the spending power of people than directly depositing it in their bank accounts.

The babus will find a way to make this the biggest scam ever.

@resjudicata Can't believe people are still throwing that bogus 1.76 lakh core number around. Please take some time to read about the significance of that figure and why it is highly misleading.

@kman009 It was notional loss as in what could have been. It includes arbitrary figures by the then CAG in terms of potential job losses, potential Investments that could've been etc. The key term here is potential losses.
Next The CBI in its charge sheet claimed that the scam was of 20,000-30,000cr and not of 1.76 lakh cr as was claimed by the CAG.

Eventually a special court in 2017 ruled that in favour of the accused saying that the CBI had failed miserably in proving the charges. So everyone walked of scot free.

While the accused did receive payments in lieu of favours during spectrum allocation but that is nothing but crony capitalism at work- something BJP indulges in more than congress.

@resjudicata Lol
Do read more about scam more in details. Check how spectrum allocation happened, how many bogus companies opened, bribes taken then talk about whether it's a scam or not.

@resjudicata You mean the scam which they could, never prove? Tell me again what happened in the auctions??? Did the gobberment get lakhs of crores they claimed the spectrum was worth???

@resjudicata We all need to start somewhere I guess. At least the benefit will trickle down to some people. It's a better proposal than fake promises and lies put forward by the political parties' talking about the Healthcare that we'll never receive and bullet trains that'll never materialize.

@sunsh2ne
about the Healthcare that we'll never receive

Out of context, I know someone who was diagnosed with a congenital heart disorder. Now no insurance will cover that citing terms and conditions. He is left on his own. If he had even a pr of some developed country then the costs would have been covered by that government. Such is the sorry state of affairs here.

Just sharing for information: please tell the person in discussion to go to a specialised government hospital. The process sure would be slow but it would be covered free of cost as it comes under life threatening disease.

Ab sahab, if you want to get hospitalized in a private hospital then either you have a good insurance which you've been paying regularly or have a lot of money. Public hospitals are there to treat you for free but educated/entitled people like us avoid them because of the way the staff treats us. It's not their fault, imagine a lakh people lining up at your shop insisting to buy free stuff while you are paid a chindi salary...

Middle class is gali ka kutta na ghar ka na ghat ka..
