Where would be the best place to buy & sell used camping equipment?

Hi Reddit! Very recently I was presented with the opportunity to buy some used camping equipment at some pretty crazy prices. I decided to move on a hunch and buy some of with the intention of reselling it.

Mostly just some authentic 3 x 3 x 2.5m canvas tents, ground sails and Campmaster 5-person canopy tent.

As we moving into winter now, I cannot see why the camping after-market industry will exactly be booming (especially in the Gauteng are) with temperatures as low as they are.

Nevertheless, where would my best bet be to flip some of the equipment I bought. Otherwise just tell me I made a bad decision.

@sakirasame FB marketplace is likely your best bet. I've sold and bought most of my camping stuff from there. I suggest waiting until spring rolls around, though, as people will be scrambling.

@sakirasame You can also try bidorbuy or even gumtree. But gumtree has many bad actors.

@516angelnell Hey guys, I actually changed my strategy and ended up selling an old tent to supplement the money buying a new one so no more tent available thanks guys

@sakirasame FB Market place is pretty good if you use it right. Do some research on how the algorithm ranks items based on search, use relevant key words in the listing key words section. Be sure to remind people to leave a rating when you conclude a sale, as this also greatly affects your ranking.

You can also join some classifieds fb groups in your area and share them to those groups when you create the listing.

Some tips, don't interact with accounts that were created recently and have no activity on their page. Also, don't trust proof of payment documents, only release goods once you have the money in your account. If accepting cash, check for fake notes. Don't invite strangers into your home - if meeting at your residence meet them outside, but ideally you should be meeting elsewhere.
