[Update] Relocated to KL with >60% Income Cut

@sparklingangel To be fair, I didn’t give it much thought before renting since it was on a short notice so I signed a 1 year tenancy agreement a little bit further from my office at PJ. I knew I was going to get a car either way so I thought the commute won’t be too bad.

@dazza_73 I remembered your post! Glad everything has turned out well.

Glad that you're also proving to the sub that not everything is about money- you're probably still youngish and prefer more exposure and stimulation to the bright city lights of KL. Money is important but is not everything and certainly not the be all and end all.

@dazza_73 What industry are you in? Glad to hear you're doing well.
As a fellow outstation based sales guy I admire your courage to move to KL. I'd do the same if I'm younger.

With 2 kids and wife tho I'm content just enjoying the work life balance.

@jc_superstar It dropped for now but I’m commission based. My first 4 months I’m surviving on net negative as I have no commission yet. However things are picking up. This month will be my first 5 figure month in KL and i just closed a big deal which will secure me 70k commission payout in May.

@jc_superstar Thanks! That’s why I am overall happier here. My previous high was 40k a month, but now I can hit 70k. I have much to learn as there are people younger than me who are more driven, smarter and have far better mindset than me. It’s so much more competitive here pushing me to be better.

@dazza_73 Awesome, congratulations! Rooting for you ever since reading your first post. Expect to see a lot of sour grapes when you do your next post with an updated average monthly income haha

@dazza_73 YMMV, but what I heard from people working in the same line, this is how HQ handles "retrenchment". Instead of firing you when you were working from home, they get you to come over, hopefully the cost of living will make you decide to quit. I can see it in the examples you gave, as per your point number 4. Hopefully it all works out well for you.
