@abidingpatri0t Seems like a silly question, but when you say max your personal IRA while deployed, how is that money tracked as tax free contribution? Does it get tracked in that way when you file taxes the following year? Am I missing something bigger?
 
@perksyshirl61 While in a combat zone, your military pay is listed as tax free and won’t be included in Box 1 of your W-2. As a result, there is no tax withholding at the time you get it, and it is not included on your tax return when you file.
