Trying to wrap my mind around having three separate banks.

@godwilling I have ..

USAA as primary checking, everything routes in and out. It has no fees for atm, instant check deposit and transfers from other banks, good online support, used to have good customer service (RIP). This is basically my “just works” main checking account.

Local credit unions (somehow two lol, they do different things well) for local stuff that needs a branch visit, non-predatory loan terms eg car loans, good customer service, CDs. I don’t use them for daily checking because the transfers are so slow. I put some of my savings here.

Ally for buckets, good hysa rates, and joint checking. I put some of my savings here. I don’t trust their customer service or loan products very much.

If I could find another financial institution with the upsides of USAA (the instant transfers) but not as many customer service downsides, I would try that.
