Trade in paid off vehicle for lease w/ $0 monthly payment for 4 years: what’s wrong with my plan?

@zindebaad you make it sound like you own a BEV (battery electric vehicle), which generally have little maintenance (no oil changes, no transmission, etc, etc_), just basically tires and brakes (and even then, brakes wear out a lot less since EV motors are brakes as well).

And since you are willing to "front load" the cost of the lease, by putting down money up front, perhaps you should look at BEV, since they are more upfront, but far cheaper in the long run (about 1/10th the cost for electricity vs gas).

I would look at one of the BEV SUV's that are out now (Telsa model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, VW ID 4, etc) for that level of maintenance.

Only real issue is wait time, they are all back ordered months at this point. If that seems too long for you, then I would sit on what you have, its cheaper!
