Someone hit my and my wife's parked car, then slammed into our gate.

A driver slammed into both my wife's and my cars which were parked outside our house, then slammed into our gate. Apparently this driver wasn't at fault, cause someone merged in front of him.. The at fault's person's property damage insurance is not enough to cover all the damages ( the damaged car who was hit by the at fault driver and our cars + gates). I am processing this through our insurance first, but I don't really want to have a claim on my record since the accident wasn't my fault. Does anyone have any recommendation on how to go about my claim? -thank you

@sleepy321 The money technically comes from them so it doesn’t go against your record. Insurance would use their insurance and sue for the rest.
