Should my house be insured as a 2 or 3 bedroom?

I am getting insurance for a home I am closing on. On the MLS the home is billed as a 2 bedroom; there is a bonus room that can be used as an office, storage or extra bedroom.

Should I be getting this insured as a 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom?

@cmleung The square footage of the home is what the insurance companies care about. Most don’t even ask how many bedrooms. They will ask about bathrooms and kitchens but as far as how many bedrooms it doesn’t matter.

@gilcollect This. I've looked at square footage, stories, age, etc. but never a breakdown of each room and its purpose. If OP has encountered an insurer that's going that nitty-gritty, then tell them and let them decide how to rate it but I can't imagine many insurers are asking that.
