I’m 27M currently working as a software engineer, current salary is 6k gross per month. I’ve been offered a job in SG for 5k SGD per month.
Life is pretty good for me here. Zero financial stress, only debt is car loan. I inherited a condo so I don’t need to pay for housing. Despite mediocre salary I’ve managed to save almost RM100k in a few years because my expenses are very low.
I’m not sure I’ll have a better quality of life in SG. With rent skyrocketing and inflation in SGI doubt I’ll have much left over.
Nonetheless, I’m still considering it because unlike Malaysia, I think work experience in a country like SG will be very valuable for my career. I can use it as a stepping stone to go to other countries or go back to Malaysia after a few years and use the experience as leverage for better salary.
