Question about lease agreement

I signed a new lease with my apartment complex last August. My renters insurance policy was canceled early during the previous lease (October 2018) but the landlord didnt know. I never renewed the insurance and am already half way through my new lease. Can that come back and affect me, even if it was on an old lease? I have insurance now on my new lease. Can I get in trouble for something that happened on an old lease, even though I'm now signed onto a new one?

@andpio I am not a lawyer, but I believe the major point of renter's insurance requirements from landlords are to protect them from your claims.

By adding it to lease agreements, they attempt to indemnify themselves from any future claims that you might generate.

So, IMO, it won't be an issue.
