Pet insurance big hike in payments for renewal this year

So when I first signed up 8 yrs ago it was $28 a fortnight, over the years it's gone up a bit each renewal. Currently paying $64 but I just got an email saying my next raise will be $82 per fortnight. That's a huge jump of $18 compared to the usual 4 to 8 $ rise over each previous year.

This is with RSPCA on economy cover 75% Just wondering if others have had this same hike or if they've just targetted me for making a few claims last yr (nothing major total 1k I received back from my claims over the year) previous years I'd simply forgotten to even make claims so when I should have claimed I didn't.

Edit: just adding this is dog pet insurance in Australia.

@jocelynvenus Dogs are more likely to get sick the older they get. That sounds similar to what mine did in the US tbh.

@jocelynvenus I would check to see if other companies charge less.

Before committing to one, ask your vet about them. Some are much better than others.

@jocelynvenus For the past 8 years you've paid approximately $8372 for pet insurance. With only $1000 in claims.

Add another $2132 for the coming year (if you keep it) and the total comes to $10504.

Good argument for never buying pet insurance.
