No Health Insurance for One Week - Moving back to U.S. from Europe

I'm moving back to the U.S. from a country in Europe on April 9th. I start a job on April 15th and my health insurance won't kick in until then. So between April 9th and April 15th, I won't have health insurance coverage in the U.S. Technically my European insurance will be active until the end of April, but I'd have to fly back to use the hospital system there if anything goes wrong.

My questions are:

- Are there options for short term insurance (1 week to one month) that I can purchase? I personally can only find options in the 6 month to one year range.

- Should I just cross my fingers for one week? If so, do I just stay inside? I need to go to IKEA for furniture and I'm a bit scared to be driving w/out health insurance.

- Any other suggestions?

Thanks so much in advance!

@christopher123123 Buy a short term policy. It won't cover pre-ex. Make sure your employer coverage starts when you think it does. There is usually an eligibility waiting period.

Buy the STM a little longer than you think you'll need. It's cheap and you don't want to be without.
