Looking for suggestions - How to best invest a gift of cash?

Asking for a friend. So, said friend was gifted about 7 lakhs in hard cash by his grandfather. What would be the best options to invest this cash in a safe and smart way? Something to also consider is that he has an ongoing house loan as well.
