Landlord insurance - Does Sonnet allow a student or two in private apartments (not rooming houses)?

This subreddit's flair options should perhaps include Residential Rental Property, or Landlord. Forced to choose between Home or Commercial, I picked Commercial.

I'm not asking about renters' insurance.

Does Sonnet allow a student or two in private apartments (not rooming houses)?

I would ask Sonnet, but their chat is only open weekdays.

FYI, typically if you were an individual renting out a single home it'd still be residential/home insurance as most personal lines insurers would take this on no problem. Now, if you yourself were a property management company and/or owned a dozen or more high-rise buildings as rentals, that would definitely be commercial as no personal lines insurers would likely touch that.

@sovereignone Thanks. I have 3 private units in the house I previously lived in. State Farm previously told me only 1 rental was allowed as part of a residential policy (primary residence with a secondary suite). My policy with Intact is a Commercial policy.

Do you happen to know if my experience is unusual / outdated? Should I ask Intact about switching to a regular residential policy, perhaps at less cost?
