A newcoming graduate student, I will leave my wife and 8 months old baby in my country, but they will visit me every once in a while (approximately 2 months in total). While I'm about to buy our flight tickets, I noticed the J-1 Health Insurance Requirements which obligates every dependent (in J-2 status) to have a health insurance. I checked out the university insurance plans but it seemed quite pricy considering my dependents will only stay 2 months (4k for each). According to the requirements, do I really have to buy insurance for my dependents that covers the whole period of the program? If so, what's the best way to do? Is there any package or company you'd recommend? Thanks in advance.
