CALLBACK ONLY Model at the Illinois Department of Employment Security

Repost.

"Effective July 9, 2020, we have implemented the “callback only model” as a temporary solution to effectively honor the order in which callers attempt to reach the call center for assistance.

This new model will be in effect for the following call centers:

Claimant Services Center
(800.244.5631)
,

IllinoisJobLink.com (877.342.7533),

Benefit Payment Control (800.814.0513)

and

Employer Hotline (800.247.4984).

What this means to you is that rather than wait on hold or call multiple times, you will receive a call when you are next in line without losing your place.

When you call us, it is important that you select the appropriate numeric option that best describes the reason for your call.

This ensures that you will be served in the order that we receive your call.

You will be called back Monday through Friday.

Call back hours are as follows:

Claimant Services Center- 7:30 AM -7:00 PM

IllinoisJobLink.com, Benefit Payment Control and Employer Hotline- 8:30 AM-5:00 PM

You can only have a single pending callback scheduled in the system at a time.

The call you receive from IDES should display on Caller ID as

800-244-5631

under normal circumstances.

In certain cases, this number could be blocked by your phone carrier.

It is important that you answer the phone when the callback is made.

If you miss your callback, IDES staff will attempt to leave you a voice mail. We will call you again shortly after the first attempt. If you cannot be reached after the second attempt, YOU will be required to contact the call center to schedule another callback."

@lucas Important reminder that with the CARES act over, states are expected to start enforcing work search requirements again. It is recommended you do the online career workshops here you get a certificate that they can verify. It's all done online and it usually takes me an hour or less to complete a workshop so it shouldn't be a problem doing some every week. Online Career Workshops count as valid work search activities

Keep a folder for each week with your work search log (also downloadable from that website) and your certificates and proof of any other work search activities you did for that week in case you're asked to show proof or are audited.

@lucas Many states have waived work search requirements until now but are now starting to enforce them again. It is recommended you do the virtual career workshops here they count as work search activities and you get a certificate after completing each workshop which you can print and save in your work search folder for that week. It's all done online so no exposure to COVID-19. If you are ever audited you will have proof that you were serious about performing work search efforts

@lucas I got my call back today, 21 days after I put my name on the list. After 10 minutes of back and forth me explaining my situation and getting put on hold, the rep came back, typed some things, said "Ok juuuust a minute..." and hung up on me. And hasn't called back since. Because OFC that would happen with IDES.

@lucas So I took them 3 weeks to call me back. I missed the call.. does anyone know when they attempt the second call back? They said they attempt two callbacks.

@lucas I got a call back after 10 days at 7.40 am in the morning.
As i have adjunction in my claim determination status i asked the lady to transfer me to adjunction department and boom i got disconnected 😔.
Than now i have made another request for a call back.
So my advice is guys just make sure with them before they transfer you to any other department that what are you supposed to do?
Like are you gonna be connected right away?
What if you get disconnected?

@lucas Set up callback 7:30 morning of the 9th...today is 14th still no call. Tried to set up new callback but was denied...already in line. Be nice if there was some way to find out exactly where in line you are.

@lucas I called at exactly 7:30am to schedule and never got a call back even though they said it’s only be 4 minutes. I’m sorry this is happening to all of us.

Does anyone know if we have to call tomorrow for another pending callback or if we keep our place in line?

@lucas I don’t see how well this works, i called at 8:22 this morning with seven minutes of waiting time, and it’s almost 3pm and nobody has called me. And it won’t let me rebook as it just repeats I’m already in line. No way they’re still dealing with the customers before me after all this time

@resjudicata Today is the first day.

Not sure what time it kicked in.

Not sure that the telephone switchboard router will stop automatically hanging up on people either. 🙄

Got the e-mail in my inbox.

Thankfully, I don't need to call them at this time.

There IS a huge backlog of claims..

Good Luck.

What are you trying to do or solve?

Tele-Serve might be less of a headache, if you are on REGULAR UI.

I would imagine that IDES still has to answer their e-mails.

Try to
