I work in retail. My hours for this week, every single one, was cut thanks to Coronavirus, and I have less than $100 to my name

Best thing is? My boss said she'd contact me to tell me if I am even coming in next week. So, no money for TWO WHOLE WEEKS, no paycheck coming in from ANYWHERE, and roughly $75.00 to my name.

@peper888888 But I still have a job, I haven't been laid off/fired (yet). So can I actually file for unemployment? I've never actually done so before, and I'm not certain about the requirements.

@blessedbythreechildren Yes when your hours are cut lower than 30 you can file for unemployment. I had to myself when my hours were cut so bad I couldn’t even eat. This virus is bad real bad

@maritza27 Go to your states unemployment website and follow the steps there to apply for unemployment.

@maritza27 I'd like to also point out that if you're ever not sure, filing and getting denied is better than nothing at all. Also appeal if you are denied, some states seem to auto deny to discourage abuse ( or use idk motives)

@maritza27 Just know unemployment takes about a month to get to you. They usually don’t pay you for your first week off either. Or if you worked a day or two that week, they won’t pay you for that week either. (This is how MO did unemployment the last few years during winter season for a carpenters position)
