I want to transfer money form India to USA what is the best method

I want to transfer money to usa about 5000 usd from India what is my best option. Earlier tried wire transfer through ICICI they basically took 200 usd on 2000 usd transfer due to variable exchange rate.

Any options will be appreciated.

One of my friend jokingly said it would be cheaper to get a forex card, fill it up with the money, and mail it overseas. Is it true?

@tashi I used bookmyforex.com in 2020s I find they have the best exchange rates.

They'll take some fee as well, but not that high.
