Homeowners claim

Recently I had my roof totaled. Per the insurance company it was going to cost ~23k. I was sent a check for ~20k. I found a contractor that gave me a final price of 16k. My deductible is 3k. The contractors invoice included material and the work but did not have anything mentioning the deductible. The only thing that mentioned insurance was “replaced at insurance value”. Do I get to keep the additional funds? And with the deductible not being in the invoice is that considered insurance fraud due to the repair being less than the insurance company’s estimate? I would like to get the depreciative value back but also do not want to commit fraud. Any information is appreciated

@weboh Yes, it is yours to keep. Your policy is one of indemnification- you get the replacement cost. Good on you for negotiating with your contractor.
