Hi everyone, I need help with some questions:
  1. If my husband had been on active duty for 4 years, then continued in Army reserves for another 4 years, is that count as 6 years active duty for transferring G.I bill?
  2. If I finished my studies within 2 years, and I had a child during the extended service, will my husband need to extend more service on top of 4 years he needed to do for me, to transfer the G.I bill to our child?
  3. As a spouse, is there any responsibility I have to do after receiving the G.I bill?
I hope it makes sense. Sorry if I use the wrong terms, I'm not really familiar with these things. Thanks!

  1. A servicemember just needs 6 years of service to be eligible to transfer. If he has 8 total years and can commit to 4 more, he qualifies.
  2. The 4 extra years is a one time thing. If you have a child after transferring benefits to a spouse, he can redirect months to the child with no extra service needed. The transfer does need to be done before he leaves the service.
  3. No.
