Edmonton August 2nd Sudden Hailstorm

Hi all,

On the evening of August 2nd, a freak hailstorm with baseball sized hail ripped through west Edmonton. It only lasted about 3-5 minutes, but did significant damage to some vehicles and property in the area.

I was just off the Anthony Henday doing banking on the west side when this happened. My 2019 Toyota RAV4 with just 2500km on the odometer has about 6 minor dents on the roof, c pillar, hood, and right side door. There is surprisingly no glass damage. None of the damage impacts drivability at all.

Is this worth filing for insurance under comprehensive coverage (TD Meloche Monnex) but is it worth it if dents are minor and only 2 of them are visible from a distance away?

Will filing under comprehensive coverage increase my insurance costs?

This is my first new car as a 23 year old and I'm trying to look at my options. It's 6 dents that are visible, but not huge and definitely not a write off. Do I file an insurance claim if my deductible is only $250? Or does that make the resale value of my car worse down the line and isn't worth fixing?

Any advice is helpful. Thanks
