Community Gardens in Auckland (or anywhere else)

Does anyone know of any community gardens that have free plots? I used to live in the country and grew all my own vegetables. Now I've moved into an apartment in the city, the fatties aren't keen on me covering the balcony in pots, and the cost of food is really starting to bite.

I don't even know if we do that sort of thing here... I've only ever seen it in the UK and US. I'm interested in auckland, but any other locations might be useful for others in the same boat.

@joshua_sime_nz We do have them in NZ, or at least there are several in Wellington and 1 in Takaka.

@joshua_sime_nz there's a community garden up by the Power Station venue. Great garden, nice people.

@wingsofeagles2012 Thanks. I checked out the website and from what I could gather it's run as a business but using volunteer labour. I have some thoughts about that.
