I want to return a cheque that someone had written out to me beause I no longer wish to do business with them. Is it OK for me to void the cheque by writing "VOID" in big words across it, or is it considered illegal. I know I can return the cheque without writing anything on it, but I want to make a statement, without getting into trouble. So, again, is it OK to deface a cheque written out to me by someone else before returning it?
