[CALIFORNIA] some info from an EDD rep

Spoke to someone very helpful at EDD. So basically the last batch of identity verification links (ID.me) went out last night. If you’ve received it do it ASAP. It takes 3 days for them to receive it. They cancelled millions of accounts for fraud and therefore had to send millions of links. That’s why it’s taking forever. Also, DO NOT REOPEN CLAIM if you haven’t already (I didn’t get info on what to do if you have) but if you haven’t clicked it, don’t do it! They are expecting that everyone’s account will be updated by Tuesday. Those whose accounts weren’t flagged for fraud WITH claim balances are being fixed faster and could happen at any moment, so keep checking your account for weeks to certify. The rest are taking longer because of either verifying identity (3 day wait for EDD to receive) or having to recalculate claim balances that are at $0. I also called the 2511 number and used prompts 2 & 4.

Edit: I just want to say again that all accounts no matter the situation are being handled currently and Tuesday is a day the rep told me many accounts should be corrected. If you want to call please try for your own piece of mind. If Tuesday comes and still nothing, please call. Everyone’s situation is different and it’s hard to respond to some of y’all’s questions because I just simply do not know. Things will get better soon! It shouldn’t take too much longer! God bless

\sigh** That's me, but still no joy. I decided I'd wait rather than call, as I don't desperately need the money now. No sense taking a spot for someone who's power's about to get turned off or something. But the wait still sucks.

@faithcollect I cannot certify yet. No flagged or fraud or id verification. I dont know whats happening to my account and my husband.. both of us still have claim balances available... hope they can fix this asap... been calling but no luck

@gregluke They will...mine was the same...didn't call. But reading comments on Reddit to hear EDD clerk seats to call and you will be fixed right then...Call an hour before they close...after 6 if you change your mind. The EDD put new info out today publicly

@eighty Is the issue that you can't get through on the phone? You guys tried that sides number? Someone posted it on here. It can get you past the "too many people calling" recording. 855-327-7057, 8-5 pacific I think. Got through twice in an hour for both me and my wife's issues. It works. Whoever originally posted it is a godsend. But in case that's your guys problem here call that number and tell them what's up and they can transfer you to a claims specialist. By doing this I was certified and showing paid in 20 minutes total including time to call and hold time. Think they are open 8-5. Not sure if this is just for California or not but everybody should try it. I also should say that I only had to call once each time. Oh and I got the money, it doesn't just show pay. I'm not messing around this saved me so much headache. I'm posting this everywhere in the hopes that people who need it see it.

@gregluke This is not the same for everyone but from what you've described you in your husband provided you could get through to someone Would be able to have your claims pushed through and be able to certify for at least 2 weeks my advice try calling the 5616 number dial one for English dial 2 for employers and dial option for you should get through best of luck hope helps

@faithcollect I’m confused why people shouldn’t reopen. Lots of my laid off coworkers did, me included, and it just put us back to exactly we’re we were before the button appeared. So while it may go away on its own you make it seem like gloom and doom awaits anyone who clicks the button. How come?

@imzakman Did you get a date of 1/24 to go back to certify? She said don’t reopen because it’ll give you that date and you to call them to correct it to allow for weeks 1/2 and 1/9. But, she was looking at my account specifically so it may be different for others I guess.

@faithcollect I got paid today after suspension letter from 12/31! I spoke to my reps and they fixed the reopen claim button! Then i got in contact with an EDD rep and was able to certify! This all happened on tuesday and today on friday 1/15 i got paid and now withdrew money now!!

@analogue She said they were sending out emails before to let people know they received it but they phased out from sending them by the end of this week. So we may or may not get an email saying they received the verification.

@faithcollect I just certified today but my claim balance didnt update and now it's at zero and saying maximum benefits reached, do you know if that'll be updated to reflect the extension?
