Big 4 Starting Salary (and Beyond)
@earlw I’m confused by these numbers. Three of my friends started in management consulting grad program this year on 36k
@rainingsunshine Salaries are different for those who pursue the ACA route as they justify the study leave/cost of exams as a reason for a lower base salary.
@rainingsunshine Depends on area. Audit and tax have exams so firm pays for it, that's part of their compensation. I think advisory doesn't have the same exam requirements.
@earlw Grads are now coming in on roughly 36k from my knowledge and conversations with them. Manager starts at 65k - the level of work expected isnt worth the salary at all, avoid them for your own mental health!
@louna What department? Definitely not on that in tax or audit so presumably you're talking about consulting/corporate finance.
@earlw Salary is low but you learn soo much. Think of it as consulting school
@jfd found the big 4 talent team. youll learn soo much in pretty much any graduate opportunity which will likely pay more
@stefan612 Maybe. But after 2 years in the big 4 you’ll be looking at far higher salary offers than the slightly higher grad salary was giving you
@jfd i’d have to disagree there. there’s a reason why most people leave the big 4 after a few years
(more €!)
@stefan612 That’s what I said. With big 4 experience you get way higher salary offers than you would if you didnt
@stefan612 That’s the point of them though. The model is literally to have about 70% of people leave atqualification.
@paula124 yeah? we’re not talking about that, though
@earlw What specific service line are you in?
@earlw Have a look at GlassDoor!
@earlw It moves pretty quickly I went from 40k when joined to management role 80k
@earlw Prob about 28k, 30k in 2nd year but will quickly ramp up after that.
It's very transparent until you get above manager level where it starts to get a bit murky.
@earlw Just starting grad role - Finance Consulting - 35k
