Best investment tips (with minimum reporting drama) for US Expats?

Hi,

I'm a US expat living in the UK for the last 20 years and I'm looking for advice around investing (stocks? crypto?).

I do my FATCA reporting every year like an obedient little citizen and want to avoid making that more complicated than it needs to be so I'm specifically looking for tips from other expats on ways to invest with minimum reporting headache.

I'm totally new to investing and don't know where to start so please go slow / easy. Any basic tips and advice at this stage are very welcome and appreciated!
