Advice on offshore investment funds?

Good day everyone,

I was hoping for some advice regarding potential options in order to invest into an offshore fund. This would be for my folks who are looking to put a % of their savings offshore in order to hedge against potential risks in SA or devaluation of ZAR. They already have funds invested in an SA based fund.

I have very limited experience in this domain, unfortunately, and was hoping someone could perhaps steer me in a general direction and highlight some warnings to look out for. Would it be logical to simply go with one of the investment firms e.g. Stanlib, Allan Gray, Old Mutual etc. and opt for a dollar or euro Global Equity fund? ( Please feel free to recommend which firm to consider also)

Below some examples:

StanLib: https://www.liberty.co.za/Documents...endowment-plan/stanlib-global-equity-fund.pdf

Mellville Douglas: https://www.melvilledouglas.co.za/m...as_sfl_global_equity_class_b_mdd_20221031.pdf

Old Mutual: https://www.oldmutualinvest.com/v3/...24dd02da3303247/OldMutualGlobalEquityFund.pdf

Allan Gray: https://www.allangray.co.za/what-we-offer/offshore/#fund-0

The above is just to give an example of roughly what I'm looking at. Am I approaching this correctly? We'll obviously see a financial advisor as well, however, due to personal negative experiences and misguidance I have received from an advisor myself - I'm skeptical to follow them blindly and want to do my own research beforehand.

Any help would be appreciated : )

@gracer If it's in ZAR, doesn't that defeat the purpose in that you're not protected against the ZAR potentially becoming more devalued in the future?

@emilienne Is Easy Equities a South African platform? So when the proverbial S hits the fan, and worst case scenario this platform goes down or cannot function, how do you access your investment?
