@the_family_monastery FIF taxes is what you are missing. If you want to purchase 100K on sharesies then you are best to open a joint account (don't know if shareies does this) or an account under your name and an account under your wife's name an put in less than 50K each. e.g A $49K VOO buy on each account.
@gopi007bond Also with the smartshares us 500 being on the nzx it should be pie not fif tax shouldn't it? Only had a very quick look at that though so happy to be corrected
@the_family_monastery If you're hell bent on your strategy, buy it through InvestNow - they have USF available without the $30 set up fee for Smartshares or the Sharesies transfer fees.
You're far better off with other options (e.g. Foundation series) if you're investing long term, but for one year () the Smartshares ones might be your best bet.
@the_family_monastery Why not stick it in a term despot? Less risk given you’re using it in a year. S&P 500 for a year may be volatile mate. I’d stick it in an S&P for at least 5 years
