    @otosongphuc Recommend jump starting the retirement savings. Reassess once you're at 2-3x annual expenses saved. Get an IRA started. It's a slow, annoying, mildly unprofessional (eg nonresponsive staff) program but you might look into NACA.

    What HYSA do you use and what's the APR?

    @christiandad CapOne, 4.35%, had started to use taxable VMFXX but couldn't resist buying more VTSAX so that didn't last. Carried ibonds previously. At the end of the day the simplicity of the HYSA won out. Having checking, HYSA(s), and revolving credit in the same place is such a convenience.

    @turretin Yeah, income looks high end for a Chapter 7. But OPA should at least consult with a BK lawyer. Settlement is another option, but OP should note forgiven debt can be taxed as income (subject to exceptions such as insolvency- student loans actually help there!) and it'll be a credit hit.
