@samuelking Yes. You can say 17 and then explain what happened, but 26 is the number they’ll actually need. I didn’t get my license until I was in my 30s so I feel your pain. Doing driving school will credit you with 3 years of experience I believe, not sure if that varies by company.

@pinetowntree Not every company does this every year though. If they don’t mention it, it’s not impossible for it to slide by unnoticed for a year or even two. Some companies are more lax than others. We definitely run MVRs for every new policy or driver, but not new vehicles.

@beelake What province are you from? If you didn’t have physical damage coverage on your vehicle you most likely didn’t have rental coverage either. If you don’t have coverage for a rental then you don’t get one.

@phphavok I don’t deal with certas, but pretty much every company I do work with has raised their rates this year, some pretty significantly. So yes, it definitely happens and they’re allowed to do it, but shopping around is a good idea. It’s really all you can do
