    @lynsdeyblack12 You got asked that because the claim you caused was likely going to exceed your limits.

    @wvcorley I don’t think they do anymore.

    I hit a pole in a gas station and now I have 3.3k in damages (according to Progressive)

    @saved1970 Using an in network shop makes the entire claim process quicker and easier. Progressive also guarantees the repairs, labor rates are pre negotiated and if anything doesn’t go well with the shop progressive has leverage they can pull and work with. If you go outside of the network the...

    I hit a pole in a gas station and now I have 3.3k in damages (according to Progressive)

    @saved1970 You already opened a claim up your rates are going up even if they pay nothing. Get fixed through them. Next time get an estimate before opening a claim and make the decision if you want to pay out of pocket or not.

    Home was destroyed by massive tree in 80mph wind. Insurance has been like pulling teeth to make claim. Is this normal?

    @hollywoodbowles Hang in there I know what you are going through. I work in claims for a competitor so I knew what to expect for a property claim. I can confidently say the carrier I work for is much much better than AFICS. I remember the VP asking how my property claim was going and when I...

    State Farm Fined $4 Million by Montana Insurance Commissioner related to Private Passenger Auto Claims.

    @gumph Yeah they are true scum and don’t pay what they owe. I will never buy a policy from them. Even the low cost carriers (Geico and Progressive) accept liability when they know they are responsible. They are both better choices than Allstate.

    Home was destroyed by massive tree in 80mph wind. Insurance has been like pulling teeth to make claim. Is this normal?

    @hollywoodbowles Homesite isn’t known for having good claim service. AFICS (American Family Claim Services) is who you are dealing with. I dealt with them two years ago and it was the same experience no one ever helped and no one ever called back or returned calls period. I went almost 4 weeks...

    State Farm Fined $4 Million by Montana Insurance Commissioner related to Private Passenger Auto Claims.

    @tylerr Allstate is the same way. Consistently try to put any liability they can on the other party when they know they are 100% liable. Watched them try to pin 25% on my friend until he decided to go through his own carrier and Progressive started the subro process. As soon as they did that...

    22 y.o. seeking advice on buying/registering/insuring a new car

    @vegdar The insurance company doesn’t care where the car is registered they care about the primary garaging location. If you get insurance when you are in ny set that as the primary and then when you move just call them and tell them you moved and the primary garaging location has changed.

    Should my house be insured as a 2 or 3 bedroom?

    @cmleung The square footage of the home is what the insurance companies care about. Most don’t even ask how many bedrooms. They will ask about bathrooms and kitchens but as far as how many bedrooms it doesn’t matter.
