Advice - How to save for retirement (25 y.o.)

@samlight So if you don’t already, learn how compound interest works. You’ll find your expected super balance will be much more than you realise. You also need to account for the fact that your wages will grow over time naturally through standard wage growth and through your own volition with...

    Body corporate fees

@resjudicata Get a better BCM. Stratas titled properties themselves aren’t the problem. All the BCM’s I deal with, and I oversee about 200 corporations for the landlord I work for, charge about $300 per lot per year. Most of the levies are about $3k per year. So the cost is ~10%. That’s...

    Body corporate fees

@drzoidberg I actually own both asset classes, houses and strata titled units. People who way strata is bad just don’t actually understand how it works.

A little PSA on renovating your home

@james400 Anything that needed professional attention was handled accordingly. Plumbing and electrical mostly. I did all my painting, new doors, floating floors, paving, garden beds, tilling, the list goes on but yes anything that requires a professional get them to do it.

    Being a landlord sucks

@inutah I’d just ask the neighbours to leave me alone and call the police. You’re not their dad. You do t have any authority over how your tenants behave. It depends on the maintenance request. I do a lot of my maintenance myself. But otherwise things like a loose door knob, as long as it’s...

    Being a landlord sucks

@inutah Noise complaints are a police matter unless it’s in a strata or community titled corporation. Don’t make it your problem. Illegal drugs are also a police matter. Tenants throwing parties isn’t an issue unless it’s causing damage to the property. Tenants loosing remotes should be on...

A little PSA on renovating your home

@serena23 Add to this. If you are planning to renovate yourself, what you think will take a month will actually take a year.
