    @gingermarie The only issue to worry about with FAANGs is over selling your dual citizenship. I know first hand that some FAANGs will not hire dual citizens in Japan. You will have to live your own life, but if you have momentum now in the US, I'd keep that pace and engineer a future paid expat...

    @funker The US can withhold a passport renewal if you don't pay (not specifically not filing), but it would require OP to be knowingly delinquent by the IRS for lack of payment. Mainly to keep people from fleeing without paying delinquent taxes.
