@sophiepretzel I now am thinking of investing $100k, and saving 40k to help me get rolling, whether that's a used car, help with an apartment, etc. It wont be money to spend on unnecessary things, but would surely help to get going comfortably.

@dart agreed. but at the same time, did employees make the same wages as 45 years ago? no. i am not trying to argue. i jsut dont fully understand inflation. would the wage increase not cancel out the COG increase?

@togetherinhim That is exactly what I was planning to do. Work first, then over 3-4 years I can take classes online and get my bachelors degree, which would surely help.

@prisha I live in Long Island, New York. Wages are incredibly higher here, along with housing costs. Those numbers are about 30k higher than current ones, but I adjusted them for the future since the job is in high demand and less people are doing it.

@luanvan24 I would most likely work at construction or electrical, and take college courses at the same time, whether online or at a community college. This way I work and get money, and at the same time can earn a bachelors to help rank up faster, and as a backup in case anything happens...

@mike84k He was correct. The average stock market return over the past 30 years was 10.7%, 8.3% adjusted for inflation. The stats may be off a little bit but not much. I also did not include taxes, so thank you for that. It will not equate to $9 million due to taxes and the market and inflation...

@southerngal2 I only say 20 in relation to my sister. My father and I are big into investing. My sister didn't know what a stock was until this year. But now she invests a lot, and is doing great. I didn't think the average age was that late, but it makes it all that much better.

@songoflovemetal I would not panic sell. If I put the money in, I will keep it in, unless absolutely needed, or it was part of the plan. How much do you estimate taxes would be on say $4 million, or $9 million?
