Does this ISA strategy make sense?

@bibledave Because FSCS covers cash in a bank, and malfeasance by financial firms. It doesn't cover investment losses. Any major fund platform or stockbroker has multiple layers of customer protection and asset ring fencing. If you're investing in Vanguard funds via Fidelity the FSCS would...

spdr s&p 500 etf is on invest engine at 0.03 T.E.R is there a catch?

@lindaloud It might have the lowest OCF, but it also has one of the worst returns relative to the index. https://www.justetf.com/uk/how-to/sp-500-etfs.html

Best place to buy silver? U.K

@showdown Same difference; if Silver drops in value, the coin in your hand loses value just as much as the Silver ETC. If you're in the end of the World prepper brigade, then there's smarter things to invest in than precious metals. Plus Silver is way too bulky in volume, Gold is the better...

Best place to buy silver? U.K

@showdown Don't buy physical silver, you'll pay VAT on the purchase. If you want to invest use an ETC via a major UK stock broker.

@jdmsn Not yet it isn't ! Maybe for 2023/24 if there's not yet another change of Chancellor and another flip flop of policy... Also if it actually gets enacted, then there's a sliding scale of relief up to £250K.

Is there any downside to investing in VWRP from the UK (since it is ‘USD’) rather than a ‘GBP’ ETF (e.g., in terms of ‘conversion costs)?

@obinnanicholas As always Monevator has an article for you. https://monevator.com/currency-risk-fund-denomination/ Fund domicile and base currency matters if you take dividends, i.e. VWRL, if the fund rolls up dividends, like VWRP, then not so much. Where a fund's holdings are, and where the...

J(S&S)ISA which grandparents can easily transfer?

@freeinchrist87 AJ Bell provider URLs for third parties to make JISA contributions. AJB, HL, II and Fidelity you can setup standing order with the account details. You'd hope VI UK could do the same. NB you're better off choosing Hargreaves Lansdown for a Junior ISA as totally fee free.

@tidal9334 If you bank with HSBC or Barclays open a UK based Euro Currency account. Otherwise, shop around for best bureaux de change rate near you. They won't accept 500€ notes, but 200€ and below are fine.

HMRC have assigned me a weird tax code starting K and ending X

@roberto1820 It's because PAYE copes badly with the withdrawal of the personal allowance at your salary bracket. It will all balance itself out once you complete your self assessment, so only a temporary situation. Once you have your P60 and P11D forms, submit your SA and you'll be fine. You...

Moving from PensionBee to Legal & General work pension?

@dennis4love The first question you need to find the answer to is; Does your workplace pension scheme allow a transfer in from a personal SIPP and at what cost? Second question is then, what are the costs for exiting your Pension Bee SIPP?

Diversifying Vanguard Index Funds & ETFs

@happygirl1016 You need to think about the most appropriate equities / bonds split for your age and investment horizon. Maybe look at Vanguard's 'Target Retirement' and 'Life Strategy' funds for any idea of suggested model portfolios based on timelines and comfort levels of risk / volatility.
