PSA: Cleartax now supports parsing Zerodha statements for e-filing ITR-2 for free

@ashleysavedbygrace We need to fill each trade? I thought we only needed to jot down overall profit loss under stcg and ltcg

NPS - Is it a good choice? (If liquidity is not an issue)

    @fishyjoe I don't know. I haven't opted for it yet. But I don't think you can withdraw until 60.

NPS - Is it a good choice? (If liquidity is not an issue)

@giobob That's it for me really. I don't want the annuity and lock in. If I can withdraw early (charge taxes as a penalty no problem) and remove the forced annuity as a requirement then I'll invest. My company also offers this corporate tax free nps plan.

NPS - Is it a good choice? (If liquidity is not an issue)

@pinkrain Yep. Imo they should give us the option of having an nps demat account where we can invest in equities and etfs like a regular demat account. Anything that's sold goes into that nps "wallet" which we can use to buy other funds or keep in the wallet if we want. That will be a useful...

What's with L&T Finance? L&T Finance Holdings Limited: Rights Issue

@farukb Yep. I sold my reliance rights issue when it was selling at a premium to the price difference. I just bought more reliance shares off the market instead.

RBI is piloting an eRupee. Here's a fun read about how this plays into the banking system

@xpsy99fan That's speculation. Do we know why the RBI bothered with the project? I'm not asking why we think they did.

RBI is piloting an eRupee. Here's a fun read about how this plays into the banking system

@demorah39 Do you foresee the erupee replace physical notes in the future, perhaps in cities? I can't see a use case play out, because I can't think of any use cases outside of what already exists ie digital transactions via money loaned to the bank. This is a very informative post. I didn't...

HDFC index funds expense ratio doubled in direct plans from 15-Apr-2021

@ahealingpen You can easily move to uti or some etf. You may not even get taxed. I don't think the index moved much.

Should I buy a flat in Bangalore with a salary of 3L p.m + investment advice

@robo23 Don't do back of the hand calculations while deciding if its a good move financially. Your emis will be 3-4 times more than the rent which will include a lot of interest. Also consider loss of income from your down-payment, annual taxes, registration fees and repairs.

NAV will no longer be the the date of purchase for mutual funds?

@believetheword It's not a loophole. We can "time the market" by buying stocks and etfs whenever we like during market hours. Couldnt do that with mutual funds anyway and now it's worse.

Long term mutual fund other than Parag Parikh for consolidation

@followtheshepherd I had put in a (now) negligible amount many years ago. I'd since decided to invest in direct stocks and index funds (Domestic and international). Since I decided to buy stocks and funds outside of ppfas I decided not to invest further with ppfas - for the same reasons I...

Long term mutual fund other than Parag Parikh for consolidation

@gberen523 Imo the benefits of parag parikh are usually reduced significantly when we diversify. I mean when people pick stocks, they'd usually have a portfolio of 12-25 stocks. I think ppfas has around 20-25 stocks and around 5 US stocks. So one very common preferred approach by investors is...

Passive investing: ETF vs Mutual Funds. Do we have a new winner? (Data backed research)

@mgreene05 It's still passive. Unless you only consider buy via sips and forget as passive so no rebalancing, shifting to a new index etc until you decide to redeem.

HDFC index funds expense ratio doubled in direct plans from 15-Apr-2021

@shanah My friend was invested in some of their debt funds and was complaining about not side pocketing because of the dhfl issues. He said they didn't consider existing investors interests in mind. He had a point. Although I just retorted with the usual don't invest in risky debt funds schtik...

@toe I'm already on uti. I generally avoid anything Hdfc although I have a bank account there. Tbf uti are hardly saints.
