P Chidambaram: Franklin Templeton’s decision you wind up 6 mutual funds is a matter of grave concern to investors and the industry

@padraig_leigheanach PC is right in saying that this is mainly a liquidity related (actually illiquidity) stress event. Which can/should be managed by govt/RBI/SEBI providing liquidity to the AMCs. The underlying bonds, even if they are less credit-worthy than others, have not defaulted. Yet...

L&T Mutual Fund launches L&T Business Cycles Fund

@json07 If only these guys knew the periods of high growth or cyclical growth BEFORE the said time. Putting the same strategy on to past data and making it work like magic and giving >27% is easy to do. I can do it even better by just selling at market top in late 2007 and buying at the market...

PSA: New Scam these days. Starts with TRAI sms or a call from TRAI. Be Aware.

For Someone who is absolutely at level Zero in terms of Money Management [New to Investing]

@annacola Thanks. I don’t think there is need to diversify till the amount of say 50L in a fund. The inconvenience is not worth before that amount. Even after that value, I will want to really assess if getting two or more funds for same purpose is really a beneficial thing or not. I don’t...

@nafetsduck Well, there is really no way to sort that out. For example, me and pattu would differ on the exact fund selection and asset allocation. while vineetr and me are miles apart! So, there is no real right answer or best answer. It all boils down to whether you have understood yourself...

PSA: New Scam these days. Starts with TRAI sms or a call from TRAI. Be Aware.

@farmchick Stop panicking first. Cool down your head. If you don’t share anything more, in particular your mobile number and OTPs, not much damage will occur. Everything has 2 factor verification and without that, they cannot do any damage. Use the cyber crime portal for direct help-...

Investing advice for a long sabbatical

@rennamo For very short term, you can just keep the money in your bank account also. You put 10L in a liquid fund, with NAV 100. You want to withdraw 1L after 4 months. The NAV will be 104 (assumption 12% a year, 1% a month). You do a withdrawal of 1L which means you withdrew 960 units. Now...

@johndoe7643 I would prefer a combination of liquid and short-term fund. The safety of overnight funds is not needed for retail investors, IMHO.
