Best op shops for children’s clothes?

@godisworking101 Totally agree, I've bought almost all my kids' clothes through Facebook marketplace or Trademe. Bulk lots are the way to go for ease and value. In fact that reminds me to look for one now!

    Best cheap wine?

@brihaha The New World wine awards document is worth downloading - they look at cheaper wines too and there's some very good ones in there that are in the $10-17 range when on special

    Advice on cheap proteins.

@godislove333 Just commented above but NoWhey is generally the cheapest although has sucralose so probably not suitable for the 3yo. My kids love roasted chickpeas which are cheap and easy. Pams Edam cheese if you're near a Pak N Save is good value too

    Advice on cheap proteins.

@walshmeister Warehouse peanut butter is insanely cheap. It's a bit oily but it's very good value for the price. I make my own peanut butter mostly, just roast up some blanched peanuts when I'm using the oven anyway and then blend adding a little neutral oil if it needs it. Dirt cheap...

    Cheap but good coffee

@gregori It's an absolute bargain. I've tried all the instants at the supermarket (because in a cost of living crisis you want to see what the best value for money is) and it's far nicer than so many expensive ones

Buying meat at the end of the day

@ella1838 If there's clearance specials in NZ supermarkets it tends to be around midday/early afternoons when the staff have finished restocking and they have time to do markdowns before the evening rush. It's handy but there's not usually insane deals.
