Why the timing of tax relief doesn’t matter, and why that’s an oversimplification (especially for pensions)

@roger5599 I appreciate the effort that went into this, although I think it’s unfair to say the wiki doesn’t cover this. In the specific link you posted it highlights that the timing of tax relief doesn’t matter for basic growth (your first points) but specifically says it does matter when you...

Pick Holes in my Monevator ISA Hack Approach

@michael93 I don't really understand this approach if you only get the transfer bonus Ince. What are you gaining from it?

Why is “adjusted net income” so vague?

@liamxx7 Yeah thinking fresh - the EV is a bit complicated actually. My understanding is that you will need to add 2% of the P11D value (list price of car and any extras) onto the income at that first part. So assuming 9k was the list price then £180.

@johnboy99 Theyre not really like for like funds. The main difference is that the developed world fund doesn't include any emerging markets, it's only developed economies. It's a perfectly reasonable fund to invest in but it's taking a decision that you believe that developed economies will...

Renting uk property, living in Austria

@reporter94 The rental income will be taxable, but will be within your personal allowance so you won’t pay any tax. You do, however, have to fill in a self assessment tax return each year. Your tenant or estate agent is legally obliged to withhold tax on your behalf unless you register as a...

Rent Affordability. I have created a budget to help me predict if I can afford the cost of renting. Please be critical!

@jgal Personal spending seems too low. Haircuts, clothes, random things you need to buy, having a life (socialising), travelto see family, etc all add up. Are the rest all based on real costs or guesses? Car insurance seems to low but maybe you've found a great deal. Have you found...
