College Son Calls It Life Hacking

@letsoara I used to work somewhere that did the 15 minute increment, it was changed in the end because people caught on that you could just clock in 7 minutes early and out 1 minute late and consistently get 15 minutes over leading to either 1.25 hours of over time or being sent home an hour...

Diary of Building a house for the first time

@accepted3 I moved in with my parents temporarily. That whole thing about being too small? It was damn near impossible to prep it while we still lived there. We need to do things like change out the carpet, and there’s nowhere to put the furniture while doing so. Aside from that there’s the...

College Son Calls It Life Hacking

@allieohh My dude I worked for multi billion dollar companies that absolutely would have fired people for this. Hell they fired people for less than this. The risk/reward for this is just insanely stupid.

@allieohh Its his university. This isn't Jimmys corner market. Is it really worth it for an extra $8.50 a shift to have to make that argument if the catch him? Hes spending probably what between $5k and $20k a semester to have to argue that "Its pure coincidence that I happen to work 61...

Diary of Building a house for the first time

@jeancommunicates This is basically what we’ve done. There was no option for some of these things, but anywhere we can we’ve chosen the “best” option because we honestly don’t want to screw around. The only thing I wish we’d done, but wasn’t in the budget was finishing the basement. Hopefully...

College Son Calls It Life Hacking

@allieohh Gaming the system to specifically get paid double can still be fraud. It doesn't matter if the system "allows" it or not. Yes they should look at what in the system allows it to be exploited that way, but its still exploiting a flaw or bug.

@rrztop1 Thats exactly it. If I were doing an audit and saw Jimmy got paid for working 2 hours when he worked 1 hour once I would say "Oh Thats weird." and move on. If under the same scenario I saw that Jimmy had done it 12 times I would be planning to let jimmy go.

Diary of Building a house for the first time

Hey all, So I am building a house for the first time and I thought others might be interested in my experiences so so much of house purchasing has to do finance. How we got here: I bought my first house when I got a decent paying job and honestly couldn't afford it. I made all my payments on...

    Unmatched wages

@jorian The reason you think you're still lower middle class is lifestyle creep. You buy a house at $40k a year, for example lets say a $100k house. You only make $40k a year so you buy a nice inexpensive used car thats already paid off and your idea of going out to eat somewhere nice is...

    Burnout! Need advice!

@ikpokolo You need to sit down, possibly with your wife and do a real risk/reward and or Benefits/Costs analysis of where you all currently are and what your goals are. You can only go so long on the road to burn out before you are burned out. You have to find a way to change that before you...
