1 in Dublin or 2 in the country?

@feuerbach Recessions happen once every 7 years in history. Once in forever it results in a 50% decline in house prices (2008) Don’t base your decision on something we’ll likely never see again in our lifetime

    Pension transfer question

@kaiousama There’s no extra cost to keeping them separate if that’s your worry, just one more account to remember. Check what the fees are on the before and after fund, and make sure both funds are same makeup (equities, passive/active etc) so you’re comparing like with like. Avivas has some...

BOI launched EcoSaver Mortgage with lower rates

@gidmos44 This is all part of the drive to be Net Zero. Banks can’t claim to be green if they’re financing lots of houses that are F rated so hiring through fuel to run. They all want the A rated mortgages on their books. European regulation is on its way too that will raise the bar further...

    Confused about shares type

@sydwell They tend to be the ticker on different markets. .IR - Ireland stock exchange .L - London stock exchange Pros and cons to each, Irish tend to be more expensive to trade (transaction fees), but at least it’s in Euro so no currency risk

    PRSA fees explanation

@yeesern Commissions are very confusing. There’s all sorts of combinations available for brokers depending on how they want to be remunerated. The fee schedule were something CBI asked for (CP116), to show the MAXIMUM commission for every product. They’re fairly useless on their own really. To...

Don't like how Ireland taxes investments? Now's your chance to do something about it!

@tapedrawing Ideally sure, but it’s unlikely. It would just give a huge tax break to the super rich who pay a load of DIRT, and a small tax break to the rest of us

Don't like how Ireland taxes investments? Now's your chance to do something about it!

@gardenlady Good idea. Will definitely be making submissions to: 1. Abolish DD 2. Increase the CGT threshold above €1270 per annum 3. Reduce exit tax on investments to bring it in line with CGT
