    @ben1996 In 99.9999999% of situations, the insurance status of the other driver is not relevant when it comes to property damage. You caused the damage, so your insurance will pay for it. The 0.0000001% or whatever is the edge case of an uninsured person in Indiana who had been cited within...

    @redrider "Obvious total" is a thing -- the insurer is not going to waste time and resources writing an estimate when an experienced person can plainly tell that it's a total. If they end up doing it, it will be to placate you, and just know that it's one of a long line of reasons why...
